Participation in MACTE Alternative Delivery/ Distance Learning Study

MACTE invited accredited Montessori teacher education institutions and programs to participate in a five-year data collection study in January 2008. Participation in the study does not the affect the Vancouver School Board/Vancouver Board of Education’s (VBE) current MACTE accreditation status or AMS affiliation.

VBE has designed a blended e-learning model that uses a constructivist approach. The blended e-learning model consists of summer institutes, seminars, directed study assignments, action planning, and guided didactic material practice sessions. The academic component is followed by a one year field study/practicum which can be completed in the candidate’s classroom.

Note: Taking classes utilizing a blended e-learning format may be more time consuming than attending traditional courses. Students should be prepared to engage in this commitment thoughtfully.

Program Name Change

On June 4, 2010 the training program applied to change its legal name from Vancouver School Board Continuing Education (VSB CE) Montessori Program to Vancouver Board of Education (VBE) Montessori Credential Program. The name change become official in November 2010.
