GDPB: Resignation of Support Staff Members

Classification:
G: Personnel
Code:
GDPB

Resignation of support staff members will be in accordance with the requirements of the Labour Relations Code of British Columbia and with the individual contract between the staff member and the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”).  Notice of resignation and the procedures to be followed depend on whether the resigning staff member is still in a probationary period under the terms of his/her appointment or whether his/her contract is a continuing one.

Resignations must be in writing, signed by the resigning party, and directed to the supervisor responsible who will inform the appropriate personnel manager or personnel officer.

To be considered acceptable, a resignation should provide sufficient notice to allow for an orderly succession or reorganization to avoid disruption in conducting the affairs of the Board.   In cases of hardship or emergency, provided that requirements of law are met and the interests of the Board are protected, a shortened notice period may be considered.
