KNAK: Relations with Fire Authorities
The Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) has a long standing working relationship with the Vancouver Fire Department. Local fire hall detachments regularly visit elementary schools to promote fire safety. Effective 1987 September, the Board approved participation in a joint project with the Vancouver Fire Department in fire safety in the home program for Grade 3 students.
The Fire Safety House used for this project was originally constructed by Vancouver secondary students and mounted on a suitable mobile trailer for use by the Vancouver Fire Department. Curriculum materials and in-service training for fire safety have been provided by Board staff.
