The VSB is a large urban and multicultural school district with 92 Elementary and 18 Secondary schools.  The Board provides programs to 54,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.  It employs approximately 3,000 teachers on a full time basis and 2,400 support staff, including Youth and Family Workers, Special Education Assistants, Office Support, Technology Support, Building Engineers, Custodians and outside workers. 

Teachers-on-Call are assigned to vacancies on a day to day or short term basis (under three months).  Becoming a teacher-on-call provides the opportunity to move into temporary and continuing teaching positions.
