Positive Parenting Videos
Understanding Positive Parenting and the Role of the Ministry of Children and Family Development, is a new video project aimed at supporting and strengthening BC’s immigrant and refugee communities.

Currently available in Mandarin with English subtitles, and Cantonese, Korean and Vietnamese dubs with English subtitles, the culturally appropriate videos look at the challenges faced by immigrant families as they navigate a new culture, new societal rules – and, in some cases, a growing communication gap between parents and children.
The videos seek to ‘demystify’ the ministry, explain child protection and family support, and offer clear information about the wide range of programs and services available, including those for children and youth with special needs or mental health challenges, and their families.

The Vancouver School Board and the Vancouver District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) produced the videos to appeal to parent and guardian groups in the Cantonese, English, First Nations, Hindi, Mandarin, and Spanish communities.
