The Britannia Bruins overcame the odds last weekend in Kamloops to win their second BC "AA" Senior Boys' Basketball Championship in three years. The team claimed silver one year ago.

The Bruins played great defense, scored baskets at key times and played with poise as they defeated R.C. Palmer 65 to 48 in the final.  Palmer had defeated Britannia 102 to 78 in the Lower Mainland final 10 days prior, meaning the Bruins could not wait to reverse the result on the provincial stage

Coaches Jesse Brown, Scott Ferris and Eric Ming had the team well prepared as they took the Bruins to the championship tournament for the fifth-straight year.  Coaches Roger Millette and Kyle Dempster built the foundation for this continued success.

The Bruins were led by tournament Most Valuable Player Semir Ibrahim and 1^st team all-star Osaro Obeseki.  Gerardo Gonzalez and Wayne Hoang each hit three three-point shots in the first quarter to jumpstart the Bruins.  Obeseki had six of his nine blocked shots in the first 10 minutes as well. 

William Ramirez, Xin Ma and Ibrahim Ibrahim were also of the "super seven" Bruins who were rotated throughout the game to keep fresh legs on the court at all times.

Earlier in the tournament, Britannia defeated Holy Cross 67-59, South Okanagan 79-62 and G.W. Graham 70-52 to advance to the final

Other team members include: Eric Vuong, Alan Tran, Mark Tran, A.J. Langley, Dennis Trinh and Tony Le. The team managers were David Tran and Jia Cao.
