Welcome to the new Director of Facilities

The Vancouver School Board is pleased to welcome James Meschino to the position of Director of Facilities effective March 7, 2011.

Meschino, who started his career as an architect working in private industry, previously worked for Kwantlen Polytechnic University as the Associate Director of Facilities Planning and Construction. At Kwantlen he was responsible for new construction, renovations, building envelope replacements, preventative maintenance and energy retrofits.

While employed as Project Manager /Architect at the Vancouver Parks Board in the early nineties, his facilities portfolio included Vancouver community centres, City of Vancouver administration buildings and parks. In this role, he was responsible for design standards, budget management and the supervision of increasingly complex capital budgets.

His projects encompassed seismic upgrades and some design / build projects. He also worked on the 2010 Olympic curling / legacy venue that had a project value of $80 million.

Building facilities that are energy efficient is important to Meschino who is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified.
