AR Lord Elementary Pumpkin Pick Gets Students in Halloween Spirit

This Halloween, AR Lord students got to pick their favourite pumpkin during a fun event organized by 20-something school alumni. Students later took their pumpkin to the gym where they carved it up to their hearts content.

The Pumpkin Pick is one of a number of events organized and supported by the Dr.A.R.Lord.Alumni Association (DARLAA), a group of under 25 year old students who've graduated from the small school and decided to come back and support their school community. The alumni group is composed of roughly 15 young adults, many of whom are students in post-secondary institutions like UBC, SFU, BCIT and Kwantlen.

Over the past two years, DARLAA have raised around $7,000 for the school and have organized events and hampers at Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Lord Principal Susie Car says the contributions of the young alumni has helped inspire the school's parent community and staff by showing just how successful grads of the school can be.
