Britannia Secondary Wins 2 Gold Medals in 14th Annual Regional Chili Cook Off

Chef John Buist of Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School hosted the 14th annual Chili Competition at the Cloverdale exhibition grounds on May 8th, 2014. A total of 20 teams participated, teams from Langley, Port Coquitlam, Surrey and Vancouver. 

Cooks in the competition competed in multiple categorgies including beef, poultry, seafood and vegetarian as well as other categories such as most original/ most creative, best presentation, best spirit, best kitchen management and best theme.

Britannia Secondary's chilis won two gold medals for Best Vegetarian and Best Kitchen Management.

The team members of 'The Britannia Beetniks' were Grade 12 Gerald Angus and Rosa Chau and Grade 10 Irwin Sargent.

"I really want to say congratulations to all our students who participated in this cook off," says teacher Denise Mary Isomura. "Our students did a great job of representing Britannia's Culinary Arts program." 

Judges were professional chefs as well as Surrey school trustees.
