Green Thumbs and Good Food: Britannia Community Garden Year End Harvest Celebration
Over the past school year, four Britannia Secondary classes participated in the Environmental Youth Alliance Growing Kids program. Throughout the school year these classes learned about food growing through hands-on learning, helping to plant, grow food, harvest and take general care of the gardens.
Each year the gardens grow more abundant and the students more enthusiastic, and this year was no exception, students and staff took time to celebrate the accomplishments of the Britannia School Garden with a meal prepared with ingredients from their garden and a reflection on what they learned and loved about the experience.
A key component to the success of the garden is the coordination and support of the Grandview Woodland Food Connection.
