Van Tech Reciters Take the Stage for Poetry in Voice Competition

This year 21 students from Vancouver Technical Secondary took the stage to recite their favourite poems during the school's third annual Poetry in Voice competition.

"The caliber of this year's recitations was amazing," said Denise Clark, the Acting English Department Head at Van Tech.

In the English category, Grade 11 Shannon McLaren took the top spot, Grade 11 Mekayla Forrest took second place and Grade 12 Ruby Izatt finished in third place. In the bilingual competition, Grade 12 Winnie Bao took first with Grade 12 Charlotte Steele placing second.

McLaren and Bao will represent Van Tech in the National online semi-finals. Clark says she is hopeful they will both be chosen for the Nationals in Montreal.
