Two Windermere Grade 11 students and a Tupper Grade 11 student recently won the Create Your Canada contest. The contest, run by Vancouver/Kingsway's MP, Don Davies, challenged students to think of a federal law that would benefit the lives of Canadians.

There were close to 50 submissions from all four secondary schools in Vancouver-Kingsway, and ideas from Kira Bennett and Triana Segovia at Windermere and Harriet Crossfield at Tupper were selected as the top two.  

Winners were chosen based on the amount of extensive background research completed, the clarity of their idea, the quality of writing and the potential for their bill/law to make Canada a better place.  

Bennett and Segovia were chosen for their idea to reduce interest on federal student loans for post-secondary education.

Crossfield was also chosen for her idea to create a National Disability Employment Strategy. 

These three students will be flown to Ottawa with Davies and have an opportunity to tour Ottawa and the Parliament buildings and watch Davies present their ideas as Private Member's Bills in the House of Commons.
