VSB wants suggestions for two school names
The Vancouver School Board is asking students, parents and the Vancouver community for their suggestions to name two Vancouver schools.
The public is invited to submit suggestions for a new name for Macdonald Elementary, which is being renamed at the request of the school community. As well, names are being solicited for the new elementary school to be opened next year at International Village downtown. To offer a name suggestion, visit www.vsb.bc.ca/schoolnaming.
VSB's naming policies state that "Names selected for Vancouver schools should honour the historical and cultural/ethnic heritage - including the First Nations community, recognize outstanding individuals, be reflective of the region, or be significant to the geography of the area. Names of individuals should only be used posthumously."
The last day to suggest school names for these two facilties will be June 19, 2016.
