Superintendent's letter to parents
Steve Cardwell has written an open letter to parents on his return as Superintendent (Acting):
Dear Parents / Guardians,
It is my honour and pleasure to return to the Vancouver School Board as Superintendent (Acting). We have outstanding teachers, support staff and administrators who are committed and dedicated to our public education system. I am thankful for the great work that takes place every day in enabling our students to be successful. I want to assure you that this excellence in teaching and learning will continue.
While there are some significant challenges ahead, my priority is in maintaining the high quality education that you have come to expect for your children in our schools. The district is committed to providing the necessary support and stability that is needed for our students. I will work with our Board and do my very best to ensure that we engage our learners through innovative teaching and learning practices; build capacity in our community through collective leadership; create a culture of care and shared social responsibility; and provide good leadership, governance and stewardship.
Vancouver School Board is unwavering in its commitment to inspiring student success by providing an innovative, caring and responsive learning environment. Our focus is on ensuring that the education, safety and security of our students remains at the centre of all decisions.
Sincerely,
Steve Cardwell, EdD
