Dress for the Weather!
Dear Graham Bruce Families,
We encourage students to dress suitably for all types of weather, including rain, sun, and snow. It's important for students to wear comfortable clothing that supports active learning and shields them from the elements. Here are some suggestions for weather-appropriate attire at school:
- Outerwear: Make sure to have warm or waterproof jackets and boots when necessary.
- Rain gear: Bring rain jackets, waterproof gear, and boots for wet days.
- Sun protection: Use sun protection on bright, sunny days.
- Extra clothes: Keep a complete set of extra clothing at school. Younger students might benefit from having a bag of extra dry clothes in their classroom.
- Hats and mittens: Store a toque and mittens in your backpack.
- Socks: Carry an extra pair of socks in your backpack.
Be in the know, winter is coming!
Follow VSB on social media to stay updated about school closures due to severe weather.
During extreme weather conditions (heavy snowfall, extreme cold, freezing rain, extreme heat, etc.) VSB schools will remain open if possible. If a District-wide closure is necessary, it will be announced by 6:30 a.m.

On Wednesday November 20 students in divisions 8-12 had the pleasure of hearing author, Terri Tatchell of My Animal Books, read from her series about endangered animals. Students were very engaged by Tatchell’s reading and sharing of information about several at risk species including pangolins, tamarins, tarsins, okapi, and lemurs. They shared their favourite animals and asked many thoughtful questions. We are very fortunate that the author donated a set of her books to our libraries. If you would like to learn more about Terri's books please check out her website here. Our special thanks go to Ms. Jack, our teacher-librarian for inviting the author and organizing the sessions for our students.
