Technology Education
Today's high school students are introduced to more information in one year than their great-grandparents were in a lifetime. They will work until the year 2040 and during that time, technological knowledge will double every 3 to 6 years. The changes in the workplace will mandate unique skills and the ability to re-learn on a daily basis. Britannia's Technology Department focuses on the following disciplines:
- Photography
- Graphic Arts
- Wood Technology
- Construction
- Power Technology
- Automotive Technology
- Youth Train in Trades AutoService Technician Program
- Electronics/Engineering
Britannia's Technology Education courses depend on and support interdisciplinary integration of knowledge and skills. As we prepare students for success, we create opportunities for students to reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills to a variety of problems. Often the most used skills are those that are considered basic. The importance of basic skills can not be overstated. In a recent study, the solid basic skills needed by all employees include: resource management, technical literacy, problem solving, problem identification, information gathering, and thinking skills. These are concepts emphasized in all our Technology Education courses here at Britannia. Check them out online in the Britannia Course Calendar.
