District film festival showcases student movie-making talent

In a packed theatre at Vancouver Technical Secondary, the Vancouver Association of Motion Picture Teachers (VAMPT) presented 43 short films by student from across the Vancouver School District.

The audience was captivated by the display of student talent and creativity. With the support of teachers, filmmaker mentors, classroom equipment and their own resourcefulness, students were able to create powerfully engaging stories that expressed their own world view.

Among the audiences were three adjudicators with rich experience in filmmaking: Thea Loo, Suzanne Friesen and Randy Rotheisler. After the screenings, discussions about the films were held and prizes were handed out.
