Thank You for Orange Shirt Day Participation
A heartfelt thank you to all our students and staff who participated in our Orange Shirt Day assembly. The students were very respectful as we honored the victims of Residential Schools and learned about how to engage in reconciliation. A special thanks to Ms. Chow and Ms. Litsa for helping set up the gym to create a respectful and honoring space for the event.
Orange Shirt Day - September 30
Please note that there will be no school on September 30th in observance of Orange Shirt Day, a national memorial day.
Terry Fox Run
This coming Friday, we will hold our school Terry Fox run. Parents are welcome to come and cheer us on or even join in the event. We will have a brief kick-off assembly at 1:30 PM. Everyone is welcome. For more information about Terry and the cause, please visit http://terryfox.org
School Safety
We are always concerned about student safety. If you come to our school, please remember that while you are a welcome and familiar face for your child, you are a stranger to other children. If you would like to see your child, please come to the office, and we will call your child to meet you. Please do not go to your child’s classroom without going to the office first as we are teaching our students to be cautious of unfamiliar adults.
Upcoming PAC Meeting
Our next PAC meeting will be on October 8th at 6 PM in the library. Everyone is welcome to meet with parents and discuss events at school. Please see the attached agenda and the minutes from our last meeting in September.
School Cash Online
There has been some confusion regarding School Cash Online. One reason is that the computer banking system has us labeled as “Lloyd George” instead of “David Lloyd George.”
PAC Hot Lunch
PAC Hot Lunch is starting on October 1st. The lunch will be delivered, but cutlery will not be included. If you are using this service, please send your child to school with the proper fork/knife/spoon for the day.
Halloween Movie Night
The PAC and David Lloyd George are planning a Halloween movie night for Thursday, October 24th. This is currently a penciled-in event. We will provide more details as the date approaches.
After School Rentals
Our school is used by various community groups after school. These are independent programs, not school board programs, but many families participate. There are art programs, language schools, and a computer program. Attached to this message is a flyer from the computer school. We will share other opportunities as they arise.
Thank You for a Great Start
Thank you to all parents and staff for a wonderful September start-up. A special congratulations to the Kindergarten students and families for completing their first month of school. The year has started very well.
Have a Great Weekend from David Lloyd George
