Building an Inclusive and Respectful School Community
In our culturally rich city of Vancouver, we’re privileged to live among people from all backgrounds and experiences. At David Lloyd George Elementary, we’re working to help students understand what it means to be anti-racist and why respecting each other’s differences is essential. This commitment is also reflected in our school’s Code of Conduct. In recent assemblies, we’ve been emphasizing kindness and exploring ways to prevent discrimination.
If you’re interested in discussing these topics at home, UNICEF Canada has published a helpful article for parents, teachers, and caregivers: Talking to Your Kids About Racism. Thank you for your ongoing support in nurturing a caring and respectful community.
Recycle B.C.’s Flexible Plastics Collection Program
For one month, our school community will be collecting flexible plastics in partnership with Recycle B.C. Here’s how it works:
- Bring your flexible plastics from home—no need to sort them.
- Our school earns $2 for every kilogram collected.
- This is a great chance to reduce waste and raise funds for our school!
Message from the PAC (Parent Advisory Council)
Our PAC is organizing three fundraisers to support school initiatives. The fundraisers include Purdy’s Chocolates, Mitchell’s Soups, and Shopfunds. These are wonderful opportunities to complete some holiday shopping while supporting school programs—it's a win for everyone! (please see attachments below for each of these fundraisers)
- Hot Lunch Orders are available on SchoolCash Online. The deadline for ordering is Tuesday, November 26.
- Stay Connected: We encourage families to visit the PAC website (DLG PAC Website) and subscribe to updates. Connecting with PAC is a great way to get involved and support our school community.
Thank you for your support, and we wish you all a wonderful week ahead.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Weresch
