Newsletter December 13 2024

Hello Parents and Guardians,

We have some exciting updates to share with you!

Girls Volleyball Team Success Last night, our girls' volleyball team played in the city finals and performed exceptionally well. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. A huge thank you to all the parents, sponsors, coaches, and drivers who have made volleyball such a popular sport at DLG. Out of over 100 Vancouver schools, DLG placed 3rd this year. Amazing!

School Celebration Choir We are also grateful for our school celebration choir, which is run at lunchtime by our dedicated teacher volunteers. They have been working hard on learning new pieces of music. This afternoon, the choir performed at Marpole Neighbourhood House, bringing joy to the community, including many seniors. It is a wonderful learning experience for our students to feel the reward of bringing joy to others.

Here is our week ahead:

Monday

  • All day: Winter Food Drive
  • 3 pm: Reports go home

Tuesday

  • Last day of Winter Food Drive
  • 3:00 – 3:30 pm: Arts Umbrella

Wednesday

  • 2 pm: Division 15 Fairytale Performance for parents

Thursday

  • 1:30 pm: Winter Concert. Given our limited time (1 hour), not all divisions will be able to perform. Before deciding to attend, please ask your child if they are performing. We have limited space and seating.

Friday

  • 9 am: Holiday Karaoke in the gym – everyone is welcome to sing along. We will start the day with 8-10 holiday songs to get into the festive spirit.

Report Card Information Session  Report cards will be sent home on Monday.  Some of you may want more information about the format of our British Columbia report cards and how to interpret them.  If you check your email, an invitation was sent out by the Vancouver School Board to all parents about an information session you can attend online.  The session will be on Monday from 6-7 pm.  Please have a look at the email (sent on Thursday) for the link and more information.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community!

Warm regards,

Jonathan
