DLG Weekly Update
Week of October 27 – 31
Hello DLG Families,
We hope you're enjoying the beautiful fall season! Here's what's happening at David Lloyd George Elementary this week:
📌 Immunization Clinic – Monday
Vancouver Coastal Health will be hosting an immunization clinic at DLG. Families of students requiring immunizations will have received direct communication from VCH.
🧒 Kindergarten Registration Begins November 1
Priority registration for the 2026–2027 Kindergarten year opens this Friday. If you have a child—or know someone in our catchment—with a child entering Kindergarten next year, please review the attached letter from the Vancouver School Board.
🏐 Volleyball Season Begins
After a fantastic Cross Country season, we're excited to kick off Volleyball for our older students. A big thank you to the parents and staff who volunteer their time to coach and support our teams in friendly competition with other schools.
🎃 Pumpkin Patch Field Trip – Tuesday
Divisions 14 and 15 will be heading to Richmond to visit the pumpkin patch. Parents, please ensure your children are dressed for rain and mud—these trips are always fun and a little soggy!
⚽ Free Kick Soccer – Wednesday
Students registered for Free Kick will have their next after-school session this Wednesday. We're grateful to Free Kick for including DLG in their program!
🦉 Owl & Raptor Ambassadors – Thursday
Divisions 10 and 11 will enjoy an in-school field trip with a local owl and raptor rehabilitation organization. This engaging presentation brings nature right into our classrooms and is always a highlight for students.
🎬 Halloween Movie Night – Thursday Evening
Join us for a spooky movie night organized by our PAC! Please see the attached poster for details. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
👻 Halloween Parade – Friday Morning
Our annual Halloween Parade will take place Friday morning beginning at 9:15. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend and cheer on our costumed students and staff. Come get spooked!
🎭 Halloween Costumes
As we celebrate, please help us ensure costumes are respectful of all cultures and do not portray violence. See the attached flyer for guidelines. Thank you for helping us keep Halloween fun and inclusive!
🚗 Parking Reminder
Thank you to our community for respecting staff and daycare parking spaces. Your continued cooperation helps keep our lot safe and accessible.
🏗️ Old Building Deconstruction
Work is underway on the old building. While you may not see much from the outside, demolition is happening internally. Materials are being salvaged and reused wherever possible. We'll keep you updated as progress continues.
