VSB Guiding Principles of Assessment

This 6 values-based Guiding Principles of Assessment is meant to describe and encourage quality assessment practices and inform instructional practice.  The Principles support and are aligned with the District’s CSL work as well as provincial guidelines.  The following graphics resulted from a representational working group made up of educators from VESTA, VSTA, VEPVPA, VASSA and district staff.  After reviewing research and the work in other local, national and international jurisdictions, the group established a Purpose of Assessment statement and 6 values-based Guiding Principles of Assessment meant to describe and encourage quality assessment practices and inform instructional practice.  The Principles support and are aligned with the District’s CSL work as well as provincial guidelines.
