A Snowy Day At Bruce!

Dear Graham Bruce Families,

As the cold weather continues, it's important to ensure that our students come to school dressed appropriately for the conditions. Please make sure your child wears a warm coat, hat, gloves, and boots to stay comfortable and safe during outdoor activities. Additionally, we encourage students to play safely in the snow by being mindful of their surroundings and avoiding rough play. By dressing warmly and playing safely, we can all enjoy the winter season while staying healthy and happy.

Black History Month

To celebrate Black History Month, we have planned several school-wide activities for our students. Every day in February, we will highlight a Black Canadian who has made significant contributions to our communities during our morning announcements. Additionally, we have invited the "Black History Matters" presenters to our school on February 7, 11 and 12. These presentations, tailored for different age groups, are created by a theatre artist and are part of a fully researched and resourced program. The program aims to foster a truthful awareness of Black Canadians through the arts, inspiring and educating students. By evoking the Sankofa bird and its symbolism, the presenters look to the past to inform our future. Students are encouraged to question, comment, and connect with the material, exploring its relevance to the world around them. The presentations are filled with fun facts and provide opportunities for continued classroom discussions after the events.
