Programs
Nootka Elementary is a K-7 public school on the edge of Renfrew Park in East Vancouver. We have a dedicated staff, an active parent community, and many other strengths. We are proud to host three distinct programs and serve a total population of more than 400 children and their families:
-
The Classic Program delivers the full, provincially-mandated curriculum with an emphasis on academics, athletics and the arts to reach our diverse student population. Creativity, a dedicated teaching staff and the pursuit of excellence have long been hallmarks of this part of our school.
-
The District Fine Arts Program offers the core academic curriculum while devoting eighty minutes per week to dance, drama, music and the visual arts. Teachers with specialities in each of these areas cooperate to deliver passionate instruction.
-
The District ELSP (Elementary Learning Support Program)Program is an alternate program designed to enable kids with dyslexia (and other forms of LD) to build their skills and experience success in school.
The staff and students of all three programs work together and strive to build a close-knit, caring community. We are working to create a stimulating learning environment and to promote literacy, academic growth and social responsibility
