Superintendent reflects on a school year gone by

2024 - 2025 photos

During the last 10 months, our schools were vibrant spaces of learning, growth and connection. From inspiring academic achievements to memorable extracurricular activities, these are the moments that enrich our school communities year-after-year.

And what a year it has been! Browse through our year-in-photos highlighting some of 2024-2025’s standout moments.

Students across all grades made meaningful strides – whether through classroom learning, joining clubs or teams or giving back to their communities. Everyone here at VSB is honoured to be a part of students’ learning journeys.

We also want to congratulate the Class of 2025! Their hard work, dedication and achievements have been truly inspiring, and we wish them all the best in in their future endeavours.

For all the wonderful occasions, this year also had its challenges. The tragedy following the Lapu Lapu Day Festival, in particular, deeply affected our school district and broader community. The compassion and resilience shown by students, their families and our entire staff was deeply moving. The kindness and support, both within and beyond our schools, is a testament to the strength of our community.

Now, with summer’s arrival, we're excited about the opportunities ahead. Many students will join our summer learning sessions at 12 VSB schools in the coming weeks. We're also proud to participate again in Vancouver’s Pride Parade this August, celebrating inclusion, diversity and belonging.

While many take a well-earned break, preparations for the 2025–2026 school year are underway. You can find key dates including District Pro-D days and break schedules on our calendar. We’re eager to welcome everyone back in September, ready for another year filled with learning and connection.

May summer 2025 be filled with fun adventures, new learning and happy memories!
