About Vancouver Learning Network:

The Vancouver Learning Network (VLN) is a Provincial Online Learning School operated by the Vancouver School Board. Since 1990, VLN has provided online learning opportunities for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, as well as adult learners.

As a Provincial Online Learning School recognized by the Ministry of Education and Child Care, VLN provides online learning programs and courses to eligible students across British Columbia.

*Tuition is free for eligible school-age students who meet B.C. ordinary-residency requirements. For school-age students, both the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) must be ordinarily resident in British Columbia. Eligible Canadian students who do not meet B.C. ordinary-residency requirements may enrol on a fee-paying basis at the VSB-approved rate of $800 per course. Tuition-free options are also available to eligible adult students. Different eligibility requirements and fees apply to international students. Refundable textbook or resource deposits may apply.

Why choose online learning?

Online learning is perfect for students who wish to learn at home or need more flexibility in their schooling schedule. Choose online learning to...

• personalize your learning plan to fit your schedule, timelines and goals
• take online courses to fast-track your education
• take a course that is not offered at your home school
• upgrade marks or complete prerequisites for post-secondary entrance
• complete courses for high school graduation
• advance skills for personal interest or future employment

How it works:

VLN works with students and families to determine if online learning is the right fit. Full-time VLN students work directly with a VLN counsellor to create a personalized learning plan to establish goals for their coursework.

Coursework is provided to students based on the BC curriculum and is assessed by Vancouver School Board teachers. VLN offers an elementary and secondary program with 90+ secondary level courses, including some Advanced Placement courses. For a full list of available courses, view the Course List.

Eligibility:

Online courses are available to students across the province. Tuition is FREE to school-aged students who are Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents that reside in British Columbia. For information regarding fees for adults and non-BC residents, see: Tuition Fees.

Registration:

The registration process is different depending on the student program. For registration information, see:
