Tuition and Fees
School-age students ordinarily resident in British Columbia
There are no tuition fees for eligible school-age students who meet British Columbia's ordinary-residency requirements.
For school-age students, both the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) must be ordinarily resident in British Columbia. The Vancouver School Board defines residence in B.C. as the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) having established a home where they customarily reside and maintaining an ongoing physical presence in B.C. For more information about student eligibility, residency and enrolment requirements, see VSB Administrative Procedure 300: Admission of Students to School and School Choice.
Refundable textbook or resource deposits may apply depending on the course or grade selected.
Students temporarily outside British Columbia
School-age students who are temporarily living outside British Columbia may be eligible to continue with VLN if they continue to meet B.C. ordinary-residency requirements and their absence is determined to be temporary. Supporting documentation may be required to establish residency and eligibility.
For more information about online-learning eligibility and enrolment requirements, see the Ministry of Education and Child Care Interim Online Learning Procedures Guide.
Canadian students who are not ordinarily resident in British Columbia
School-age Canadian students who do not meet B.C. ordinary-residency requirements may be eligible to enrol with VLN on a fee-paying basis.
The VSB-approved tuition fee is $800 per course. Eligibility requirements and supporting documentation apply.
International students
Different eligibility requirements and fees apply to international students. International students should review VLN's international student eligibility requirements before registering.
Adult students
Adult students who are ordinarily resident in British Columbia and have not yet graduated may take eligible courses required to complete the B.C. Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma) or the Adult Graduation Diploma (Adult Dogwood) without paying tuition.
Adults who have already graduated may take designated high school upgrading courses tuition-free. Tuition-free upgrading is limited to courses approved by the Province of British Columbia, and course availability through VLN may vary.
