Before and After School

Supervision on school grounds

Staff (Education Assistants) provide supervision for 15 minutes before the first bell and for 15 minutes after the dismissal bell. NO STAFF SUPERVISION IS PROVIDED any earlier or later.

Primary teachers release students to an adult or an older student that the parent/guardian has approved. For Intermediate students, some families choose to have them go home without an adult, usually with a friend or sibling.

Remaining on school grounds after the staff supervision period

After school, each student must have an adult looking out specifically for them — a parent/guardian, a caregiver, or another adult who has agreed to do so — to remain on school grounds past the 15 minute supervision period. (This includes during events planned by the Parent Advisory Committee.) Any students left without an adult at that time must come to the office to wait. Any Intermediate students going home without an adult must also leave by this time.

Students are welcome to come to the office to use the phone to contact their family. The office is scheduled to close at 3:30.
