Scholarships

David Thompson In-School Scholarships for the Graduating Class of 2026:

To qualify, the applicants must have a minimum of seven (7) Grade 12 courses taken at David Thompson during the regular school year; and not have any “I” (Incomplete) marks for any of their Grade 12 courses. Courses must be completed or in progress. The mid-semester marks in semester 2 will be used to calculate the average.

The following scholarships are generously provided by the David Thompson Alumni. Please read each application package carefully. The application process is active and in process.

David Thompson Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) Scholarship in Trades/Performing Arts/Vocational Studies:

This scholarship is given to a student who has spent his/her senior years at David Thompson Secondary School.  He/she has achieved outstanding achievements in a VSB approved program trades, performing arts and/or vocational studies (e.g. culinary arts, automotive, carpentry, photography, jewellery making, graphic design, animation, computer programing, music, film studies, etc) and plans to pursue further education in that area. 


District Scholarship:

The District Scholarship ($1,250 each) is awarded to graduates who have demonstrated excellence in one of the following areas:

  • Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (e.g. Business Ed, Home Economics, Media Arts, Technology, Tourism)
  • Community Service (Volunteer Activity) (including awareness of local, global, and cultural issues)
  • Fine Arts (e.g. Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Art)
  • Indigenous Languages and Culture (demonstrated at school or in the community)
  • Languages (e.g. External Assessments or Languages Curriculum including AP courses)
  • Physical Activity (and Health) (e.g. Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics, Fitness, Outdoor Education, not limited to Physical Education)
  • Technical and Trades Training (e.g. Coding, Culinary Arts, Mechanics, Robotics, Woodwork, Auto, Robotics)

The application process involves an application from students and a selection committee comprising David Thompson teachers.

  • Application Deadline: Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 4pm
  • Application Form: Applications (hard copy, not digital) are due in the school office in the tray labelled 'District Scholarships' by 4pm.
  • Students can apply in more than one category and must submit a separate application for each category.
