In-Catchment Registration for Current VSB Students:

• For those residing in the catchment of David Thompson and moving from Grade 7 to Grade 8 in September, families will receive registration information from David Thompson through the students' current elementary school in the new year.
• For those Grade 8-12 students residing in the catchment of David Thompson and requesting transfer to David Thompson, families will contact the students' current secondary school to initiate the application process.

In-Catchment Registration for Students New to Vancouver School District:

All students who are new to the district and residing in the catchment of David Thompson will take the following steps to apply for G8-12 at David Thompson:

• Step 1: Apply online.
• Step 2: Check email for a notification from David Thompson or the Newcomer Welcome Centre.
  • For those who are born in Canada, who speak English at home and whose parent/guardian is either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, families will receive a notification from David Thompson in 5-10 business days (should applications be received between September and the 2nd Friday of June) or from the Newcomer Welcome Centre soon after online application (should applications be received between the 3rd week of June to August).
  • For those who are born outside of Canada, who speak a language other than English at home, or whose parent/guardian is neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident, families will receive a notification from the Newcomer Welcome Centre soon after online application.
  • Please email David Thompson Student Records or Newcomer Welcome Centre if this notification takes longer than usual to get to your inbox.
• Step 3: Submit supporting documents for verification following the instructions in the email notification.

Cross-Boundary Application for Current VSB Students:

Current VSB students residing outside of the catchment of David Thompson will take the following step(s) to apply for G8-12 at David Thompson:

• For those moving from Grade 7 to Grade 8 in September, complete registration for their catchment secondary school.
• Apply for cross-boundary online when application is open from the first school day of February till the last school day of February.  Applications must be received within this period of time.

Cross-Boundary Application for Students New to the Vancouver School District:

All students who are new to the district and residing outside of the catchment of David Thompson will take the following two steps to apply for G8-12 at David Thompson:

• Step 1: Complete registration for their catchment secondary school.  Families residing outside of the Vancouver School District will register in their school district instead.
• Step 2: Apply for cross-boundary online when application is open from the first school day of February till the last school day of February.  Applications must be received within this period of time.
