PEN
Personal Education Number (PEN) is a unique 9-digit number assigned to students entered at the education system in BC.
Fastest Ways to Retrieve PEN:
- Refer to student documents such as K-12 report cards and secondary school transcripts.
- Log in MyEducation BC Family Portal to check.
- Request PEN on the GetMyPEN self-service website using the student's BC Service Card or BCeID. Scroll down to the bottom of this Ministry of Education webpage for instructions and links. For enquiries, please email the PEN Coordinator at PENS.Coordinator@gov.bc.ca.
Alternatively, current students and their parents/guardians could contact the school office for assistance. PEN will be provided only upon verification of the identity.
Former students will email David Thompson with the following document/information to request PEN:
- A copy of the current ID
- A staff name (principal, counsellor or teacher) at the time of their attendance in David Thompson
- Period of attendance in David Thompson, for example, school year 1989/1990
Request for PEN retrieval will be processed only after all of the above-mentioned are received. PEN will be provided upon successful verification of the identity.
