Elementary school (kindergarten to Grade 7) is an exciting time of exploration, growth and discovery where students build a strong foundation of learning.

Regular Program

All our elementary schools teach according to  BC's Curriculum, with a focus on core competencies. To learn more about registering for regular elementary programs, visit Kindergarten Registration or Registration for Grades 1 and above.

District Choice Programs

VSB is proud to offer a wide range of educational options for different types of learners. Our Choice programs include French Immersion, Mandarin Bilingual, Indigenous Focus, Montessori and Fine Arts. Kindergarten District Choice Program Registration Details

1. Before applying for Kindergarten District Choice programs students must first register at their neighbourhood school.

Grades 1-7 District Choice Program Registration Details

Priority applications for District Choice Programs in Grades 1 to 7 will be accepted online between January 7, 2025 and February 4, 2025.  This application site can be used for students attending VSB schools, as well as students not currently attending VSB schools.

*District Choice Program enrolment is based on space in each program.


Late District Choice Program (Gr 1 - 7) applications are submitted by paper form.  This form is intended for families applying to a District Choice Program after the Priority Application Window has closed, or for the current school year. Please submit the form directly to the school/program to which you would like to apply.
