Supporting students and school communities
As this year’s Lapu‑Lapu Day festival approaches, we recognize this time may be challenging for some members of our school communities, particularly students, families and staff who were affected by the tragic events of last year.
We especially acknowledge members of the Filipino community, including families and staff across our school district, and extend our ongoing support and care.
School staff across VSB are prepared to respond to the needs of their communities during this period. Schools will continue to maintain calm, caring and supportive learning environments, with students able to connect with a school or area counsellor if they wish. Students’ families are invited to connect with their school principal if additional support may be helpful for their child. Community resources also remain available to support children and youth during challenging or emotional periods.
Additionally, staff are encouraged to take care of themselves and their families, and are reminded that employee wellness supports are available, how and when they choose to use them.
Across our schools and worksites, our focus remains on stability, care and consistent support as this period approaches.
