Athena Yu

Athena Yu, Grade 12 student at Magee Secondary School, will serve as student trustee for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Athena has been an active member of the Vancouver District Student Council (VDSC) for three years. Her leadership journey began in Grade 8, serving on the Magee student council in several roles, including grade representative. In addition to her student trustee duties, Athena will continue serving her school’s student council as secretary this year.

Athena’s student leadership experience extends beyond council roles. She is the co-president of the Math Attack Society and president of the Canada Sunshine Foundation. She co-organized TedxYouth at Magee Secondary and received the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s Outstanding Young Ambassador Award for her academic achievements. Athena is also a dedicated member of the Building Youth Action Collective, contributing to the City of Vancouver’s building safer communities program.
