Janet Fraser lives in Marpole where her three children graduated from the VSB. She was first elected as a trustee in 2014 and was re-elected in 2017 (by-election), 2018 and 2022. Janet served as Board chair for four one-year terms and is a member of BC School Trustee Association’s Indigenous Education Committee. She holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Bristol, has been a UBC organic chemistry researcher, a project manager at local biotech companies, an at home parent, and is a community volunteer.

Janet was elected as the Vice-Chair of the Board for the 2024-2025 year, and was previously elected by fellow trustees as Chair of the Board in 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2021-22.
