VSB Board and Committee Meetings during COVID-19
Chair of the Vancouver School Board, Janet Fraser, shares how the Board will move forward governing the school district while limiting the spread of COVID-19 in a video message posted today.
As the District supports student learning from home, provides child care for the children of essential services workers and continues to feed vulnerable students, Fraser expresses the Board's appreciation for District staff as well as parents and caregivers. She notes they are adapting – possibly to working from home, or even loss of a job – all while taking care of their families.
"Our Board is adapting too, and always with the priority of health and safety," she says.
Fraser explains the Board meeting scheduled for April 27 will go ahead online, and as usual, will be livestreamed. With no public in attendance, she notes the meeting will include an email question period and encourages Vancouver residents to tune in online. She adds committee meetings will re-commence online in May.
"Our Board understands the importance of our democratic processes and we invite you to take part," Fraser says.
The dates and times of meetings will be posted on the events calendar on the District website.
