Top science students
Two Vancouver School Board students are among sixteen of Canada's brightest high school scientists that have been selected by Youth Science Canada to represent Canada at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) May 9 - 15 in San Jose, California. Intel ISEF is the world's largest science fair.
Team Canada-ISEF was selected by a distinguished panel of 15 university faculty, industry researchers, educators and Team Canada alumni through a competitive national selection process that began in October and concluded Sunday as part of Youth Science Month.
Last year, Team Canada-ISEF brought home six grand and three special awards.
The VSB students are:
- Claire Edgcumbe - Kitsilano Secondary School
Do NMDA receptors affect early brain development? - Mary Zhao - Churchill Secondary School
Grasping Water: Exploring a Novel Method of Inducing Precipitation
Claire and Mary will also be representing their schools during the regional science fair on April 8 - 10, 2010 at the University of British Columbia.
Good luck to all participants!
