Mini Student Releases First Music Album

For Charlotte Forbes, creating her first professionally recorded album has been a two year-long process. While the Grade 11 Prince of Wales Mini student has been playing musical instruments since she was three years old, this will be her first professionally recorded album. Titled "Electricity", Forbes says the album is a mix of pop music and ballads. Background music is synthesized with Forbes playing both the violin and singing vocals.

To hone her skills and raise money for the recording of each song, Forbes has spent many a weekend busking down on Granville Island.  While she admits it was a bit nerve wracking to play in front of big crowds of tourists, she soon got used to it. It was a lucrative gig that could earn her several hundred dollars on a good day. In addition to the busking gig, she also plays with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Prince of Wales Jazz Band and Prince of Wales Orchestra.
