VPD Summer Soccer Camp is a Big Hit

Over 380 Vancouver students from across the district participated in the 23rd annual Vancouver Police Department youth soccer camp at Strathcona Park this summer. The camp featured dozens of games as well as drills to teach youngsters the basics of shooting, passing and dribbling.

The four day free camp was coached by Vancouver Police officers with the help of a Whitecaps coach. In between the soccer, students were introduced to different police specialty areas including the dog squad, police horses, motorcycles and the VPD Emergency Response Team. On the last day, the elementary students were treated to a special visit by the RCMP's Air One helicopter as well as soccer tips from Whitecaps FC's own Matt Watson.
