Windermere Hosts TEDx Renfrew Collingwood Public Speaking Event

On October 19, close to 250 guests came to Windermere to participate in the TEDxRenfrewCollingwood public speaking event. During the day long event, creators, catalysts, designers and thinkers shared their ideas. The event brought together a wide-range of speakers including technology advocates, academics, the founder of Beauty Night Society and Victoria student Ann Makosinski, a finalist in this year's Google Science Fair.

"It was a great success in terms of involving local attendees and presenters such as Carmen Rosen and youth volunteer involvement and stimulating dialogue," said Gavin Clark, Windermere Community School Coordinator.

Clark says Windermere students were involved in many ways throughout the day. They shadowed the audio-visual professionals and the school's Athena Arts Program (in keeping with the event theme, From Far to Here) developed an interactive art installation that invited attendees to place a pin on the world map indicating their place of origin.
