Tennyson Parent-Run Track Practice Gets Kids Running
Principal Jacquie Lavoie says Tennyson Elementary has something pretty special in their new track program. The entirely parent-organized program engages over 50 kids from K-7 in a wide range of track and field events including high jump, long jump, sprints, shot put and relay running.
The practices are run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning before school and are a great way to get kids tuckered (and hence more focused) before they set foot in the classroom.
On Mondays the school has partnered with UBC and students get to benefit from the coaching of a UBC track coach who runs the high jump station.
