Vancouver Canucks forwards Daniel Sedin (#22) and Radim Vrbata (#17), and mascot Fin, stopped by Lord Selkirk Elementary School this week.

Students and staff were thrilled to meet the players and show Sedin and Vrbata how they have incorporated hockey into their learning of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) via the computer program Hockey Scholar™. 

Later in the day, the players led two student troupes in a lively round of STEM Jeopardy, facilitated by Canucks In Game & TV Host Hannah Bernard -stumping the players with a few questions. 

Students also had a chance to ask Sedin and Vrbata questions about the game and their careers. The players and Fin presented the school with a full set of indoor floor hockey equipment, a Canucks autographed jersey, and an autographed photo for the school. 

"This was a sensational opportunity for our students to hear two of their favorite Canucks role-models talk about the importance of learning," said Selkirk Principal Darrell Cavanagh, who was proudly sporting a Canucks jersey. "The excitement in the gymnasium was amazing, and everyone enjoyed the afternoon."

Cavanagh gave a special thank you to Selkirk's beloved Physical Education Teacher, Terry Johnston, who organized the event.
