Student Registration Procedures

Please note: due to the high volume of registrants accessing the summer registration website on the first day of registration, we expect potential system delays on opening day. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Important Dates:

Register for summer learning online at: summerreg.vsb.bc.ca

  • Registration for Elementary Programs open on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM
  • Registration for Secondary Programs open on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 12:00 PM
  • Registration closes for all registrants on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:59 PM

Please note: Registration is online only. 

Current Kindergarten to Grade 11 students who are attending a BC school will be accepted.

Preparing to Register:

To complete the online registration process, you will need to provide the following information: 

  1. An email address currently in use (for verification, receipts, communication, etc.)
  2. The student PEN (Personal Education Number). This is a 9-digit number issued to every student enrolled in a BC School.
  3. The student's birthdate. 

 Student PEN for VSB students can be found at VSB Student PEN Request. 

There is no fee for Ministry Funded courses. 

For courses that require a fee, payment must be made at the time of registration using VISA or MasterCard. For information about course fees, see Fee Information.

Registration Procedures for Non-VSB Students

Non-VSB students include, students attending an independent school who reside in the Vancouver school district or students attending public or independent school in other school districts. 

Current Kindergarten to Grade 11 students who are not attending a VSB school are eligible to register for the VSB Summer Learning Program.  Registration for VSB and non-VSB Students opens at the same time.  When registering students will be required to enter their PEN and complete a non-VSB registration.  In some cases, additional information may be required to verify the non-VSB student’s eligibility for provincial funding to attend a public school.
